What do you know about mealworms?

We have mealworms in our classrooms. We're learning about their life cycle and watching them grow.

We observed them.  Here are some of our thoughts.

We put some worms in there and they are going to eat carrots. –Kendrick

They can't have water because their home will get rusty and old. They get the water from the food. –Madalyn

We got a push pin and we poked some holes so there will be air so the mealworms can breathe. - Mark

They don't like being in the light a lot. -Omar

We learned a lot of new words this week.  When you need to know what a word means, you can look it up on Dictionary.com.  Try it out with some of these words.

  1. There are many types of insects in the world and many different types in my garden. Some are not helpful and eat the leaves and roots of the plants and make them die. But other insects are very helpful and eat the insects that invade the garden. Do you know any helpful insects?

    Some examples: Dragonfly and Ladybug
