...what students have learned in Science...

We have learned about a lot of things in Science so far this year.  We studied scientists, mealworms, butterflies, food chains, herbivores and carnivores, habitats, and plants.

Sebastian:  Plants need sun and water.

Andrew:  It can take about one week for a mealworm to become a beetle.

Asia:  We used to have mealworms in our class.  We played with them on our hands.

Christian R:  Plants can grow by giving them water and sun.

Felipe:  When butterflies are worms they turn into a cocoon and then into a chrysalis.

Ja'Corey:  Butterflies can fly and they have wings.

Marc:  Roots grow and get water so the plant can grow.

Yara:  Butterflies suck on some flowers.

Alejandra:  Mealworms don't like light, and they are fast.

Samuel:  We made a food chain with cookies, gummi worms, and animal crackers.

Caitlyn C:  A herbivore is an animal that only eats leaves.

Damien:  A carnivore eats meat.

Nic:  We got to see our plants grow.

Nadia:  We learned about how mealworms get juice from carrots, apples, and grapes.

Mark:  If you give plants colored food they'll die.

Jaden:  Beetles don't like the sun.

Christian M:  Butterflies eat nectar.

Michael:  Habitats are where living things live like snakes under rocks and bears in caves.

Natalia:  If you don't give pumpkin plants water or sun they'll die.

Jaden:  A food chain is when one animal eats another animal; for example a grasshopper eats grass, then a frog eats the grasshopper.

Omar:  In Science I learned you have to touch plants carefully.

Ke'Shun:  We studied about mealworms.  They don't like light because light is bright.

Lillee:  A scientist is someone who works on making bubbles.

Kendrick:  A scientist measures things with tools.

Michael: I learned about plants and how they grow.

Antonio: Mealworms shed their skin and grow new ones.

Evelyn: Butterflies drink nectar from the flowers and lay their eggs on a leaf.

Jonathan: Plants need sunlight, water, and air to grow.

Emmanuel: A cactus saves its water because his habitat is very hot.

Andrea E. : Snakes are cold blooded and that's why some live in the desert to stay warm.

Ramiro: Habitats are different and they are shelters for the animals and people.

Gustavo: A bird has to build her habitat up in a tree so a cat won't eat them.

Yeraldi: Some animals can not build their habitat in the desert because it is too hot.
