...how pumpkins grow...

We are talking about plants and pumpkin life cycles in our class. We are growing actual pumpkins in our classroom! As they grow we are watching their life cycle. We have many  pumpkins in different stages.

The first stage is a seed, the second stage is a sprout with seed leaves, the third stage is when the sprout turns into a vine with yellow flowers, and finally during the fourth stage the pumpkin begins to grow. It starts out as a green pumpkin then turns orange when it is fully grown. Can you guess what stage our pumpkins are in?

  2. Great start on your pumpkins. The vine of a pumpkin can grow as big as your classroom. Pumpkins are yummy. You can eat the filling in pumpkin pie and some even cook and eat the pumpkin seeds. They taste a lot like sunflower seeds. Try them with a little bit of salt.
